Kara Andrade is an experienced multimedia journalist who uses social media to bridge the world of newspapers, technologists and entrepreneurs to present relevant stories. She builds online and offline communities through reporting, consulting and virtual world event organization.
Kara is the Online Community Organizer for Spot.Us, an open source project that focuses on community-funded reporting. She graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a Masters in Journalism. Kara received a BA in Literature from New College of Florida and has six years of experience in nonprofit development, public health and community organizing. She has worked as a multimedia producer, consultant, staff writer, videographer, and photojournalist for Agence France-Presse, the Associated Press, the San Jose Mercury News, Contra Costa Times and the Oakland Tribune. She served as the Interactive Editor for Youth Radio's award-winning converged production company.
